LAMDA Results Explained – and Why Online Lessons with Michelle Michaels Make All the Difference

Whether your child has just completed a LAMDA exam or you're considering starting their LAMDA journey, understanding the grading system is a great place to begin. In this article, you'll find LAMDA results explained clearly and simply, along with how online lessons with me, Michelle Michaels, can help your child excel in their exams—and far beyond.

LAMDA Results Explained

LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) exams are graded using a structure that mirrors academic qualifications. These include:

Pass – A solid result showing a basic understanding and execution of the work.

Merit – A higher level of achievement demonstrating confidence and competence.

Distinction – The highest mark awarded to candidates who perform with excellent technical skill, insight, and creativity.

Each grade also comes with a score out of 100. The higher the grade, the more challenging the expectations. As your child progresses, they will build valuable skills in voice, communication, and interpretation that benefit them in school, interviews, and public life.

LAMDA exams at Grades 6–8 even carry UCAS points, supporting university applications and highlighting dedication to extracurricular achievement.
